BJS Insurance Brokers continue their breakfast seminar series this October with a seminar on Mental Health & Workers Compensation.
Held on Wednesday October 2 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG), this seminar aims to provide attendees with an understanding around how to effectively address the risk of workers’ mental health and mitigate the cost of claims.
The mental health of our workers remains an emerging risk to Australia employers. According to the World Health Organisation, one in five Australians suffer from a mental illness in any given year. This means at any one time up to 20 per cent of your workforce are at risk of mental illness.
The latest Safe Work Australia data identifies that claims for ‘Mental Stress’ run three times longer and are almost three times more expensive than an average claim.
Attendees at this seminar will gain an understanding of:
- The policies and procedures to have in place to manage Mental Health in the workplace
- Practical strategies for maintaining the Mental Health of your workforce
- What is reasonable management action
- Liability – Investigations, Arguments & Misconceptions
- Mental Illness claims and the Conciliator
- Strategic management of claims for Mental Illness
