As part of our ongoing relationship with the Australian Meat Processor Corporation, Aegis Risk Management Services is contributing a workshop at the AMPC Melbourne Network Meeting on February 26th.

A four-hour interactive workshop covering issues across Workplace Safety, Workers Compensation and Human Resource Management.

The workshop is facilitated by four industry experts with extensive experience in the management of Workplace Risk.

Specific topics covered will include:

  • Managing serious injuries and fatalities
  • Managing the termination process
  • Identifying and addressing workplace hazards
  • Understanding and influencing Workers’ Compensation liability

Participants should finish the workshop with a greater understanding of the areas covered and with an increased ability to manage these difficult areas of Workplace Risk.

The industry experts include:

Simon Booth

Manager, Aegis Risk Management Services

As part of the Workshop on Managing Workplace Risk, Simon will provide employers with an understanding of the complexities of liability as it relates to Workers’ Compensation insurance. Simon will help employers understand the criteria relating to valid claims, how to understand when an injury may not be compensable and how and when to proactively manage the liability process.

Simon Booth is the Manager – Workers’ Compensation for Aegis Risk Management Services. Simon is a Specialist Workers’ Compensation Broker with over 20 years’ experience in Workers’ Compensation which has included senior roles in Underwriting, Consulting and Broking organisations throughout Australia.

Simon’s experience in Workers’ Compensation spans Risk Management, Underwriting, Injury and Claims Management, Premium Management and Loss Control. He currently works with employers assisting them in gaining control of their Workers’ Compensation programs and achieving sustainable reductions in premium and associated costs.

Simon works closely with both the Australian Meat Processor Corporation and the Australian Meat Industry Council which has led to an in depth and unique understanding of the Australian Meat Industry.

Jay McGrath

Senior Account Manager, Aegis Risk Management Services

As part of the Workshop on Managing Workplace Risk; Jay will be working with employers on how to identify and address workplace hazards. Jay will clearly outline the hazard assessment process and assistance in how to develop and implement risk management procedures relating to hazards in the workplace.

Jay has over 30 years’ experience in Workers’ Compensation Insurance and Occupational Health & Safety.

Jay has worked with Insurers, Consulted and managed services with National employers in both and insured and self-insured environment.

Jay started his career with MMI and has since managed OHS and Workers’ Compensation programs for Transport, Waterfront Services and Public Health across all jurisdictions in Australia. In particular, he managed the self-insurance program nationally for Mayne Nickless’ Logistics business.

Additionally, he has consulted for a number of years through Deloitte to multinational employers, both insured and self-insured before establishing his own boutique consulting operation for a number of years.

Jay has worked extensively in the Australian Meat Industry for over 20 years working with small and large operations in this sector. He has had significant involvement in Manual Handling and Occupational Violence. Through this engagement he has represented the OHS executive within the various Public Health network on the State Government’s Occupational Violence Advisory group.

Jay has improved the performance of many employers through the utilisation of focused strategies to avoid and reduce injury rates, and then minimise the impact of any incidents that do result in injury.

Andrew Douglas

As part of the Workshop on Managing Workplace Risk; Andrew will help employers understand their legal obligations following a serious injury or fatality in the workplace, the steps they must undertake and how to best support the company and its workforce during the process.
